4D 2004.3 Released

4D recently released 4D 2004.3. This appears to be a very solid release, and it includes some improvements to 4D Insider that address the dreaded "A component is damaged" message. We've been testing Foundation 4.1.4 with the 4D 2004.3 betas for months now, and we're happy to say the two make a great match.

PowerTools
Bundle

To celebrate the season (and the release of PowerTools 2006), we've teamed up with ASG to save you up to $100 when you purchase both Foundation 4 and PowerTools. Hurry, this bundle is available only for a limited time.

Automated Solutions Group is just days away from releasing PowerTools 2006. This new version of ASG's popular component/plug-in package is now automatically recognized and used when dropped into any Foundation 4.1.4 or later database. PowerTools 2006 works with AreaList Pro to provide enhanced output forms that can easily be configured by the end user. PowerTools also adds hierarchical menus to the Foundation menu bar, and adds a set manager for easily saving and loading sets of records. That's just a few of the new capabilities you'll get by adding PowerTools 2006 to your Foundation project.

Foundation 4.1.4 Released

This one's a major update. There are only a couple of new features, but a lot of bug fixes. Fifteen required components and one optional component have been updated to version 4.1.4.

You'll find one of the new features in the Toolbar component. Now any toolbar button can become a menu button. A small triangle will be drawn next to the icon, and when the button is clicked a drop-down menu will appear.

This release also adds hooks for automatic integration of PowerTools 2006 from Automated Solutions Group.

And, as always, there are lots of minor bug fixes in this update. For example, the Find button problem with 4D 2004 is finally fixed. A problem that caused alerts and other modal dialogs to open behind the front most window on Windows is fixed. And some minor problems with menus and style sheets have been eliminated.

Visit the Foundation Components page for the latest version and the release notes for each component.
